Grosvenor has announced that independent hotel, School Lane Hotel, has opened at Liverpool ONE, ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest next week. Located in the historic 1850’s Russell Building and operated by multi-award-winning Hope Street Hotel, the 17,500sq ft space has been sensitively restored to create 55 bedrooms over five floors.
Positioned on the corner of School Lane and Peter’s Lane, School Lane Hotel is located at the heart of Liverpool ONE, providing guests central access to both the city and transport links. Restored to maintain the historic architectural features of the Russell Building, while simultaneously mirroring ‘big sister’ Hope Street Hotel’s city chic style, all 55 rooms boast their original sash windows and three-metre-high ceilings, and come furnished with bespoke oak furniture, super-king beds, rain-dance showers and Temple Spa products. The sophisticated reception and lounge area features an impressive glass installation commissioned by acclaimed glass artist Katerina Christou.
School Lane Hotel’s extensive refurbishment and opening ahead of the start of Eurovision, is set to take advantage of the much anticipated surge in national and international visitors to the city.
Rob Deacon, senior asset manager at Grosvenor, commented: “We are hugely excited to see School Lane Hotel open at Liverpool ONE, just in time for Eurovision with footfall set to increase at the destination by 25% during this time. The city is going from strength to strength in its position as a leading tourist hotspot, and curating a well-rounded, varied tenant mix is crucial. The arrival of a high-quality, independent hospitality operators like School Lane Hotel only adds to this, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in this prime city centre location.”
The news of School Lane Hotel’s opening at Liverpool ONE follows the launch of the official Eurovision Song Contest pop-up store at the destination, which opened on May 1 and stocks the full range of Eurovision merchandise. A comprehensive programme of music, art and community-led events, including staged performances showcasing up and coming local talent working with community organisations, will also be available for Liverpool ONE visitors during the competition.
