Four new major brands are heading to Three Spires, Lichfield, as owner M Core continues with its ambitious plans for the main retail destination in the Staffordshire city.
Fast food chain KFC has signed a 20-year lease for 4 Gresley Row, a 2500sq ft unit, while national gym chain Energie Fitness has agreed a 15-year lease for 6a Gresley Row, for a first-floor gym with ground floor entrance totalling 6,652sq ft.
On Bakers Lane, Touchwood Pharmacy has signed a 15-year lease for number 41, at 2,429sq ft and Edinburgh Woollen Mill is opening a new store at 26a after agreeing a five-year lease for the 4,435sq ft shop unit.
The new signings come as M Core, one of the largest, privately held commercial property portfolios in the UK, progresses with its plans to bring the city’s first multiscreen cinema in decades as part of a joint venture (JV) deal with Lichfield District Council.
It is close to signing an operator, in the hope of starting the transformation of the former Debenhams store later this year, once planning is submitted this summer.
Barry Flint, director at national commercial property and investment company LCP, part of M Core, which manages the site said: “We’re working hard to ensure the centre is the leading retail and leisure destination in Lichfield, which won’t benefit just the local shoppers who come to Lichfield all year round, but also the thousands of tourists who flock to the city every year. We have invested over £250,000 in the site to upgrade available units and have a further three occupiers joining the scheme in the coming weeks.”
As well as the cinema, M Core has also redesigned the wider proposal to include more leisure space and is in detailed discussions with a nationally known cocktail bar and a further leisure operator to bring their brands to the city for the first time.
Three Spires attracts 9.9 million shoppers a year and has two car parks – Backcester Lane and Gresley Row – with 160 vehicle parking spaces. It is also close to the city’s bus station and railway station.
