Korean beauty brand PURESEOUL is to open its first store in Brighton and its fourth physical store in the UK within Redevco’s Hanningtons Estate.
The retailer has signed a 10-year lease on 1-2 North Street. Existing retailer Oliver Bonas is also upsizing, more than doubling its space on North Street, one of the busiest and most in demand shopping streets in the city.
The new PURESEOUL store, which comprises 2,250sq ft (1,250sq ft ground floor, 1,000sq ft basement) will open by the end of August, offering a curated selection of almost 1,000 Korean skincare, haircare and makeup products. The brand began as an online store only five years ago, and has since expanded to open physical stores in London Soho, Westfield White City and Oxford.
Meanwhile, Oliver Bonas, which first opened within Hanningtons in 2019, has signed a new 10-year lease on 23-25 North Street, which comprises just over 6,000sq ft (2,169sq ft ground floor and 3,886sq ft basement) and is due to open later this summer. The unit is adjacent to Watches of Switzerland and one of the main entrances into Brighton’s Lanes at Meeting House Lane.
Gracie Tullio of PURSEOUL said: “We are dedicated to being the UK’s top destination for Korean beauty. Our team works closely with brands to handpick the best and trendiest products, ensuring a completely curated and unique product offering for our customers.
“When we discovered this charming corner location with one of the busiest footfalls in the city, we immediately felt it was the ideal spot to introduce K-Beauty to Brighton. We have been on the hunt for a store here for over a year, as the city’s vibrant culture and welcoming attitude are perfect for us. We are so thrilled to finally connect with our South of England customers.”
Claire Yeadon, asset manager at Redevco, said: “Since acquiring the Hanningtons Estate in 2015, Redveco has invested heavily in the infrastructure, design and configuration of the shops on North Street. We have attracted major brands such as Joe & the Juice, Watches of Switzerland, Hotel Chocolat, lululemon, Rituals and Astrid + Miyu. We’re delighted that Pureseoul is joining us – a truly inspiring brand – and that Oliver Bonas has thrived in this location and is more than doubling its space. Being able to accommodate upsizes within the portfolio is enormously satisfying.
“Every unit within Hanningtons is either occupied or under offer, which is testament to the strength of the location and its growth as Brighton’s new retail and cultural quarter. We have welcomed, incubated and supported the growth of small independent local businesses such as &Halt and Stanley Road Store, as well as working with major high street brands to meet their growing and changing needs.”
