Council reveals new multi-million pound masterplan for Weaver Square
Cheshire West & Chester Council has drawn up a new masterplan for the struggling Weaver Square in Northwich, bringing new residential development and a public services building to the site.
Cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure, Cllr Brian Clarke, said: “Weaver Square, with its many vacant units and poor architectural quality, is letting the town down and these exciting plans will provide a bright new future for this area of the town.”
Weaver Square has suffered since the council-backed Barons Quay opened last year offering 210,000 sq ft of stores, shops and restaurants, plus in excess of 900 free onsite car parking spaces. A 21,500-sq ft store letting to a fashion retailer recently completed, taking that scheme to 56 per cent let.
