Family retailer Matalan to open new store in Belfast city centre
Matalan is to become be a key tenant at Belfast’s CastleCourt after acquiring a 24,000 sq. ft. unit. With 227 stores across the UK in addition to 25 overseas franchise stores, Matalan is one of the UK’s largest, leading fashion and homeware retailers but the new Belfast store will be its first city centre location in Ireland although it already has four out-of-town fashion and homeware stores in Northern Ireland.
CastleCourt is one of Belfast’s leading and most successful shopping destinations and incorporates a growing mix of standout food and retail outlets including Debenhams, Boots, Argos, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Burtons and Jack Jones.
Michael Wright, asset management director at landlord Wirefox, said: “Matalan’s decision to open a substantial new store in CastleCourt demonstrates the centre’s appeal and investment potential.”
