Phil Wilkinson, team leader at the Homeland Security Group (HSG) at the Home Office, will be among the speakers at next week’s Retail Destination Live Conference.
The HSG is responsible for work to counter terrorism and to cut serious and organised crime (SOC). Wilkinson’s background is in policing, and prior to joining the Civil Service in 2019, he was a police officer and worked in different operational and command roles, as well as being seconded to different teams within the Department for Transport and the Home Office.
His experience and involvement within counter terrorism prevention and detection started with the Terrorism campaigns of the 1990s and the attacks in London in the mid-2000s. From 2010 he worked as a Counter Terror Security Coordinator (CT SecCo); delivering and managing protective security for local, regional and national pre-planned events; as well as working on the security provision for visits undertaken by the Royal Family, government ministers and other VIPs to locations throughout Great Britain.
Wilkinson will be joining Dawn Osborne, director at NOVA, to discuss the security challenges faced by retail destinations in the current climate.
Retail Destination Live will take place on Thursday July 14 at Jury’s Inn, Hinckley Island near Leicester.
