Construction starts on final phase of £15m Bristol Scheme
Final phase works are to commence imminently on Hammerson’s redevelopment of the Imperial Tobacco factory site regeneration schemes in South Bristol. Planning consent was granted in November 2017 for the scheme, designed by The Harris Partnership, which will provide 78,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space including an Aldi foodstore, drive thru’ and gym.
The plans build on works already undertaken to regenerate the Imperial Tobacco Factory site and also include additional parking, new public piazza and improved pedestrian pathways through the site, with proposals for new landscaping created by Harris’ sister company Vector Design Concepts.
The old Imperial works closed in the early 1990s and the site was earmarked for development as part of the regeneration of the wider area. Nearly 30 years later, the final piece of the puzzle is now in place with the new Imperial Park expected to generate over 225 jobs.
