The Merrion Centre in the heart of Leeds’ Arena quarter has partnered with hair styling brand ghd and the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) to raise vital funds to save young lives. The charity initiative is part of #HeartMonth and will see visitors to the shopping centre enjoy professional hairstyling for a minimum donation of £5, with all proceeds supporting CHSF’s life-saving work.
The charity day, which includes a Teddy Tombola, will take place on Friday, February 21, on the main mall inside the Merrion Centre.
Four volunteers from the Leeds HQ of ghd (good hair day) will be on hand using ghd hair styling products. In addition, the team will also offer red accessories such as face gems, bobbles, clips and red glitter spray ensuring a fun experience for everyone.
Adding to the fun, from 8.30am the on-site ibis Styles Hotel will also host a Bake Sale and Coffee Morning, giving visitors even more ways to support this vital cause. Additionally, car park operator CitiPark is getting involved by offering customers the chance to donate to CHSF when pre-booking parking through its app throughout the month of February.
Participation in this charity day will directly contribute to CHSF’s essential life-saving work, from funding cutting-edge medical equipment and NHS roles to providing wellbeing, financial and practical support for families navigating the heart journeys of their loved ones.
Charlotte-Daisy Leeming, head of ESG for Town Centre Securities PLC, owners of the Merrion Centre, said: “We are delighted to support Children’s Heart Surgery Fund during Heart Month by hosting this fantastic charity day with ghd. At the Merrion Centre, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community, and this event offers a wonderful opportunity for visitors to have fun while contributing to such an important cause”.
