M The Galleries, Washington (formerly known as The Galleries), is celebrating a successful year to date having welcomed three new tenants to the shopping centre, as well as being recognised with two prestigious award wins.
Country Kitchen and Eden Mobility have opened on the ground floor with Natural Soul Skincare adding to the retail offer on the first floor.
The three new openings follow on from 19 deals that have already completed at the North-East of England-based centre this year, taking the total repurposed space to date to over 41,000sq ft.
Located in Wessington Square, within the centre, Country Kitchen, which has signed a five-year lease and comprises 1,167sq ft, has undergone a full refurbishment of Unit 63 to bolster the centre’s food and beverage offering.
Also committing to a five-year lease, Eden Mobility has now opened in Unit 30 and occupies a 1,337sq ft space. The retailer is home to products and services for those with mobility needs such as scooters, stairlifts, chairs and bathroom adaptations. Both opened at the end of September.
The latest addition to the centre is sustainable beauty brand, Natural Soul Skincare, which has signed a five-year lease on Unit 52 and which opened its doors in November.
The centre was also recently awarded a RoSPA Gold Award to recognise its continued commitment to excellent levels of health and safety management. Furthermore, the centre has been honoured with Green Apple awards evidencing M Galleries’ on-going commitment to reducing energy consumption with a programme that sees defunct lighting replaced with LEDs and includes the use of PIRs in areas where light isn’t required all day.
Simon Eatough, director at LCP, part of M Core and asset manager for M The Galleries, said: “We are delighted to now have full occupancy of the ground floor at M The Galleries. This comes at a pivotal time as we are soon set to complete redevelopment work in an underused area of the centre, which features new shop fronts, external cladding and landscaping. Within this new space, JD Sports has taken 11,142sq ft, Pure Gym will operate 24 hours out of 10,812sq ft and bar operator Loungers has taken 3,968sq ft.
“We are also pleased to have been recognised for the centre’s ongoing dedication to energy and waste management, as well as exceptional levels of health and safety management through its ninth Green Apple Award, along with the RoSPA Gold Award.”
