AS Watson plans to open 80 stores this year
Superdrug and Savers have reportedly announced expansion plans across the UK this year in a bid to “support” the high street, according to The Grocer.
The sister health & beauty retailers have planned for 80 new stores between them this year, with proposals for 50 new stores for Savers and 30 for Superdrug.
Parent company AS Watson Holdings is currently undertaking plans to close some of the existing Superdrug stores, in a bid to reopen them as the more discount-focused Savers.
The new plans would give Savers a total of 70 new stores in 2020 while Superdrug will gain a 10 units.
The company said it was “supporting” the high street by opening new stores in towns and cities across the UK.
