Savills highlights opportunity for residential development on retail sites
New analysis from Savills shows that the intensification of existing large retail sites across London represents a significant opportunity to deliver more new homes at the most undersupplied price points.
Major opportunities include big outer London town centre locations such as Kingston, Sutton, Croydon, Bromley, Enfield and Romford. Zone 3 and 4 opportunities highlighted include Enfield, Tottenham Hale and Edmonton Green.
“In contrast to retail, London’s residential market is drastically undersupplied,” said Edward Green, head of London research at Savills. “We urgently need to figure out where and how to deliver more homes, within the constraints of the green belt. It is important that we consider all options, with a particular focus on delivering homes at the most under-supplied price points.”
