Derwent wins approval for leisure-led extension to Liverpool shopping park
The Derwent Group has been granted consent for a 145,000-sq ft second phase to its leisure-led extension of Liverpool Shopping park on Edge Lane.
The new space will include a six-screen cinema, a new Hollywood Bowl, a gym and five restaurant units. A separate building will house a 60,000-sq ft anchor retail unit and 16 smaller retail units. Work will start on site this summer with opening in the autumn of 2020.
The extension will take Liverpool shopping park to over 300,000 sq ft. It is already home to brands including gas Next, M&S Food Hall, River Island, H&M, TK Maxx and Smyths Toys.
Development director Nigel Machin said: “It’s a bold scheme that, in light of the rapidly evolving retail market, has been designed to meet the changing needs of operators and shoppers. We are confident this phase will really strengthen the existing LSP offer and be welcomed by the local community too. The addition of a large flagship anchor store and a number of smaller units will enhance our growing reputation as a destination shopping park and provides a wider range of opportunities for retailers.”
