Energie to open in Stockton-on-Tees
Stessa Leisure has signed a new 10-year lease on the 7,000-sq ft gym unit at a commencing rent of £40,000pa . The space has been created out of just over half of the former Lidl supermarket, which closed on lease expiry 12 months ago to relocate to a larger store at nearby Yarm Road. Planning for D2 leisure use on the vacant unit was secured earlier this year.
The gym will be operated by Newcastle-based Stessa Leisure, whichwas set up last year to acquire franchises and new space for gyms trading under the Energie brand in the North East. This will be the group’s fourth site, with ambitions to grow to at least 10 in the next five years.
HRH Retail and Brassington Rowan, which represent Wellington Square owner Lunar Stockton, are in negotiations with potential occupiers for the remaining 6,500 sq ft.
