Contractor appointed for leisure scheme in former Bhs store
Sovereign Centros has started the development of the eastern end of the 865,000-sq ft St Enoch shopping centre in Glasgow city centre. The development within the 76,000-sq ft former Bhs store will ‘re- anchor’ the centre and provide a new leisure and retail offer cementing its position as Glasgow’s premier shopping and leisure destination.
Comprising a nine-screen 30,000 sq ft Vue cinema at second floor and nine first-floor restaurants, ranging in size between 2,000 and 5,000 sq ft, it will link into the newly refurbished food court.
The project will be completed by the end of 2019. Leasing discussions with key tenants are at an advanced stage.
Mike Thomas of Sovereign Centros said: “This is great news for the City. Our exciting plans will substantially improve the centre’s offer, extend dwell times and provide a real focus for eating and leisure “
The building contract has been placed with Sir Robert McAlpine. Leasing agents are Savills and Eric Young.
