Shearer signs pre-lets on Coventry leisure scheme
Le Bistrot Pierre and Zizzi restaurants have now commenced their fit outs at Shearer Property Group’s Cathedral Lanes development in Coventry city centre and will open in September. The Botanist will take possession in early August and will be trading by November. Turtle Bay are also signed up and will take possession in early 2019.
Cathedral Lanes is a new leisure quarter development in the heart of Coventry city centre, fronting on to pedestrianised Broadgate Square. The first phase was completed in 2015, comprising Las Iguanas, Wagamama and Cosy Club.
There are two further units available in Phase 2. Unit 3 – between Zizzi and The Botanist – comprises 3,358 sq ft and will be available during August. Unit 10 is around 7,000 sq ft and will be ready for fitting out later this year.
Le Bistrot Pierre, the restaurant that specialises in provincial French cooking, has taken a new 20-year lease on 5,323 sq ft, at first floor level with an external terrace overlooking the square. Zizzi will occupy a 3,498-sq ft ground floor unit while The Botanist has taken more than 8,000 sq ft at first floor, beneath a spectacular glazed roof providing a striking and iconic restaurant and bar at the scheme.
Carlene Hughes of Savills, who is advising SPG, said: “We are very pleased with the pre-lets we have secured for Phase 2. Footfall at Broadgate Square has already increased 17% since the first phase of restaurants opened and the development continues to go from strength to strength.”
