Cushman & Wakefield appointed to review development options for Leatherhead’s Swan shopping centre
Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed by Mole Valley District Council to review development options for the Swan shopping centre in Leatherhead, following a competitive tender.
Mole Valley has identified the need to build upon Leatherhead town centre’s retail and leisure offer as part of its Transform Leatherhead Masterplan initiatives. It has already purchased the Swan shopping centre, which opened in the early 1980s, and adjacent high street units.
Cushman & Wakefield’s review will analyse options for the Swan Shopping Centre ranging from small scale modifications through to wholescale redevelopment. The process, in partnership with architects Child Graddon Lewis and structural engineer Conisbee, will result in a recommended Masterplan for the centre.
John Percy, head of retail development & place at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “How residents and visitors interact with town centres continues to evolve. In those that are thriving, a compelling retail and leisure offer plays a central role, acting as a focal point for the wider community and a destination in their own right.”
